Mike Harris is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and has over 25 years experience in the human service field with 16 years in Employee Assistance Program planning, management and development. He has worked in both public and private sectors, consulting with companies on workplace violence prevention, substance abuse services and behavioral risk management. Mike is a native of Cleveland County, graduated from Shelby High School and later taught with Shelby City Schools and Gardner Webb University as an adjunct Professor. He has worked with EAP programs in Hendersonville, NC and most recently, in the Cleveland-Lincoln-Gaston area. Clinical areas of specialization include substance abuse, depression, anxiety and marital counseling. Mike also enjoys golf and is father to a son and daughter.


STEVE LEATHERWOOD, MA, LPC

For over 37 years, Steve Leatherwood has worked as a psychologist, counselor and educator in the fields of psychology and human services. Work settings and duties include psychological testing and consulting at Western Carolina Center and counseling with the N.C. Department of Vocational Rehabilitation to directing Family and Children's Services at Cleveland County Area Mental Health Center. Steve worked as a School Psychologist providing psychological testing and counseling to the Cleveland County School system and curriculum development and counseling for the Abuse Prevention Council and Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) in Cleveland County. This included counseling battered women's shelter clients, directing summer camps for child victims of violence, and providing group counseling for court-ordered domestic violence clients. Over the past 12+ years, Leatherwood has provided Employee Assistance Counseling and consulting services as a contract counselor with other companies managing EAP services for individuals and families in Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston, Rutherford and Cherokee (SC) counties. Leatherwood has been an adjunct professor teaching psychology, counseling and business related courses at Gardner-Webb University, Limestone College and Cleveland Community College and conducting workshops for Northwest AHEC-Bowman/Gray School of Medicine since 1975. He is married (39+ years), has two sons, and is interested in music, antiques, and electronics. Areas of specialization include adolescent/child counseling, marriage and family counseling and stress, anxiety, panic and anger management.



JULIE HUX, MA, LPC

Licensed Counselor


Julie "Juls" Hux brings to EAP-C years of experience in counseling with domestic violence, women's issues and school counseling. She is married and the mother of two girls. Her special interests are spending time with her family, sports and outdoor activites. She specializes in individual counseling, women's issues, self esteem development and domestic violence prevention/intervention.
